Introduction & Commitment
SaveVault ("we", "our", or "the App"), developed by Projekt Sumperk, is a dedicated macOS game save manager and recovery timeline utility. We believe that user privacy is a fundamental right.
SaveVault is built from the ground up to operate offline and locally. We do not operate user accounts, do not collect personal profiles, and never transmit your save files or gameplay information to any remote servers.
Information We Do NOT Collect
To be entirely clear, SaveVault does NOT collect, store, sell, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal Identity: Your name, email address, phone number, Apple ID, or billing details.
- Game Save Contents: Your save games, character profiles, progress files, or mods.
- Usage Telemetry & Analytics: Which games you play, how often you backup, session durations, or feature usage.
- Device Identifiers: Advertising IDs (IDFA), MAC addresses, or persistent hardware identifiers.
- Location Data: Any geographic or IP-based location tracking.
How Data is Handled Locally
All operations performed by SaveVault take place exclusively on your local device:

Snapshot Repository: Your game save snapshots, SHA-256 deduplicated content blocks, and version manifests are saved locally in:
~/Library/Containers/com.projektsumperk.SaveVault/Data/Library/Application Support/SaveVault/ - Security-Scoped Bookmarks: When you grant SaveVault access to a game's save folder, macOS generates a sandboxed Security-Scoped Bookmark stored inside your local SwiftData database to persist access across restarts without re-prompting.
- Portable Save Packages (.savevault): Exported backup bundles and migration packages are created directly in the folder you specify on your Mac.
💡 Optional User Cloud Sync: If you manually select an iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive folder as a backup target, data transfer is handled entirely by your personal cloud service provider under their respective privacy policies. SaveVault has no intermediary servers.
Network Connections & External APIs
SaveVault only initiates outbound network requests in the following specific, client-side scenarios:
- Game Artwork & Metadata Lookups: When a game is added, SaveVault queries public APIs (such as Steam Store CDN, SteamGridDB, or Apple iTunes Search) strictly to download high-resolution cover artwork and icon assets. These requests contain only the public title or App ID of the game and contain zero personal identifiers.
- Community Database Updates: SaveVault may occasionally check for updated game save path definitions from our public GitHub repository. No device data is sent during this check.
Data Retention & User Control
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you maintain 100% control over your data at all times:
- Deleting Snapshots: Deleting a snapshot or removing a game in SaveVault immediately purges the associated manifest and unreferenced content objects from your disk.
- App Uninstallation: Deleting SaveVault and removing its Application Support container folder permanently deletes all data from your computer.
Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR)
SaveVault is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or process any personal data from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted to this page with an updated "Effective Date". We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
